One of the biggest concerns to prospective clients is how can we offer "unlimited" service. Well the answer is we have a large surplus of resources available and going to waste, as a result we can offer bargain prices for virtually no limitations.

However there are some resource limitations, and we're not afraid to let you know up front:

Resource Usage
  • We actively monitor CPU and Memory usage. If your website is using a large amount of resources for an extended period we will investigate your account and ask you to take proper action.
  • There is a 250,000 inode limit for each account. If you surpass this limit we will give you a 48 hour window to bring your account within acceptable use.

You can't run / use
  • Any daemons or servers without prior authorization from Frog Host management
  • Cron jobs with intervals less than 10 minutes (contact management for exceptions)
  • Shoutbox scripts. Unfortunately these have a tendency to utilize a lot of resources
  • Proxy scripts or programs
  • Use any Frog Host service as a backup service (within reason, please contact management if unclear)

Hi Cody, I'm currently on the 'super' plan with HH and was wondering if these restrictions also apply to my plan. Looking at the pricing for FH, the 'tadpole' plans seems to fit my needs nicely and it's cheaper than the 'super' plan on HH. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't switch to FH?

Hawk Host has less restrictions and is typically in a more relaxed environment than Frog Host. Assuming you haven't had any issues in the past I think you would be more than fine here at Frog Host :).

For future reference it's recommended you send sales inquiries via live chat or support ticket as sometimes the forums may be overlooked.

Can it be clarified what an "inode" is to a non-Unix user? I looked up the Wikipedia article but it was a bit over my head. In other words, what causes an inode to be created? Is that just a fancy name for a file on the server? Thanks.

An inode is a file or folder. So you make the file index.html that's an inode. You make the folder images that's an inode.

Thanks :) Is there a way to tell through Cpanel how many inodes you're currently using?

Not yet and we're not actively enforcing any sort of policy at this point so nothing to worry about. It really takes an excessive amount of files to use the sort of inodes numbers we do not wish to see.
